Demelza and Scott: A Rustic Barn Wedding

The Sunset at Stennack

Demelza and Scott fell in love with Stennack Farm on their first visit.

‘As soon as we drove through the end of the lane and saw the barn with the sun setting behind it, it was exactly what we were looking for; everything in one place, room for a large number of day and evening guests, a safe space for children to play, room for all the family to stay for the weekend, as well as room for us to bring the horse for photos!’

When planning their wedding day, Demelza and Scott wanted to stay true to the rustic feel of the barn, as this particular aesthetic appealed to them most during their pre-wedding visits to Stennack Farm.

‘We didn’t want to take away from the view looking out over the fields or the natural look of the room.’

‘This meant we got some incredible photos, especially of the areas surrounding the barn.’

Ice Creams in the Courtyard

Spitting Pig provided the wedding meal, and nothing was too much to ask of them.

‘These guys were great at designing a menu and catering for dietary requirements.’

Dessert was served outside, courtesy of Mr B’s iconic ice cream van. Due to the dip in weather, they were able to park close enough to the wedding barn in order to avoid soggy ice creams!

Evening pasties were provided by Lavenders, who always provide a top-notch service.

‘Our favourite part of the day was probably the meal, as we found we had a few minutes to ourselves to take everything in and see all of our guests enjoying themselves. Oh and the beer pong before the evening started, of course!’

Sweet Carts and Decor

Emily Rose Events Hire were stocked in everything Scott and Demelza were after for their wedding decor.

‘This shop is amazing! She has everything … and can create a great package.’

Demelza and Scott hired umbrellas and blankets for their sensory area, ‘which turned out to be one of the best things we organised due to the weather!’

‘Adele was great, dropped and collected these for us.’

Music and Dancing

After a ceremony at Stennack, and the dried flower petals confetti throw, Richard Godefroy from The Swing Kids sang during the ceremony and welcome drinks of Pimm’s and Birra Morretti. ‘He is absolutely amazing!’

The band Slapdash Trio were also ‘amazing’, and had everyone up on the dancefloor as soon as they started playing.

The evening’s DJ Jason Dunn then took over with some tunes, and kept everyone’s feet on the dancefloor for the rest of the night.

Wedding Attire

Demelza had plans to find a dress with the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation in Exeter, which sells new and second-hand dresses. All proceeds go towards organising weddings for terminally ill people.

‘Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything when we visited, so we went to WED2B where they are amazing at finding the exact dress based on what you said you did and didn’t like. I’m planning to donate my dress to the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation now I have finished with it.’

The groomsmen were in matching navy and the ladies in varying shades of blue, all creating a perfect contrast to Demelza’s gorgeous dress.
