Emily and Neil: A Relaxed, Rustic Wedding Day

Just what they had been looking for

Stennack Farm was the only venue that Emily and Neil visited. They called as soon as they saw the advert, as it was exactly what they had been hoping for.

‘Caroline told us we could view it. However, to be warned it was still only a cow shed. We arrived and it was exactly that, still a cow shed and we said, “We love it, it’s perfect!” … Caroline was so open to what we would like and the whole process was so relaxed.’

‘We knew from talking to Caroline and seeing how amazing she was at creating and designing the accommodation that it was going to end up the beautiful place that it has become.’

A relaxed, chilled out day

Emily and Neil are both very relaxed people and were after a chilled out, relaxed wedding day, with it being all about ‘celebrating our love with people that we love’.

Lee Searle

‘We wanted to keep the simple rustic feel, as that is what we liked. We added in extra areas that reflected our personalities and our journey. Such as – a Hawaiian theme in the bar area with a photobooth as we got engaged in Hawaii, and garden games outside as we are both adventurous – and who doesn’t enjoy a bouncy space hopper!’

The day was catered by Feed: ‘and boy did their name speak true’.

‘We had been regulars of Feed and were recommended them as they were just starting out on their outside catering journey. I think it is more what didn’t we have on the day. It was the most amazing spread of food that just came coming. We had things such as lamb flatbreads, macaroni cheese balls, salads, coleslaw, delicious potatoes and dirty fries for the evening … Everyone to this day still talks about how delicious the food was.’

Emily and Neil hired Mr B’s for their ‘most yummy ice-creams from their van’.

‘Nikki was so helpful and we definitely made the most of tasting all the flavours before choosing for the day. We particularly enjoyed the variety of choice of vegan flavours too.’

Emily’s bridesmaids had their makeup taken care of by Carly Angove and Lauren Adams was in charge of their hair.

Lee Searle

‘Lauren was so lovely and made the day even more special. I wanted the day to be more personal and I had my wonderful friend from childhood do my hair and makeup.’

Flowers and photos

‘The school chef from where I worked made our cake and our lovely friend Kate Skipper created the most beautiful flower displays and my bouquet, which I was so in love with. Kate is the most talented lady and if you ever need a good sports massage she is your lady too!’

Emily and Neil’s photographer was Lee Searle.

‘Lee made everyone feel so relaxed and he just slotted in as part of the day. It was more like having a friend there. Chris Plant was our videographer and we could not be happier with our choice. He is the nicest person and we still just love watching our video and how it captured the fun and love of the day.’

Emily’s beautiful wedding dress was purchased from Krystle Brides in Bath.

Lee Searle

‘They are the most loveliest team and they made the whole process so special, especially as it was during covid and all the restrictions that were in place.’

‘I loved my dress so much. My shoes were Rainbow and they have such a great selection, I loved them all so got two pairs, one for the evening. Both high and I lasted all day and night in them, dancing away. I also had my jewellery handmade my Sarah De Larrinaga. Sarah was amazing and just made and designed exactly what I wanted and is such a kind lady.’

A magical day from start to finish

‘It was just the most magical day from start to finish. I married my best friend and I don’t think I stopped smiling. I can’t name a favourite part as I loved it all. I can only say that I would do it all over again as it was the best day.’

Top tips

‘We definitely would try not to get Covid straight after! If we were to do anything different would be that we would have remembered to turn on our solar lights for the outside garden area to make more use of it in the evening!’

‘We didn’t want the day to end and thank you Stennack Farm for the best day.’
