Catie and Scott: A Wedding Day with a Relaxed Festival Feel

When visiting Stennack Farm for their initial viewing, Catie and Scott were impressed with the beauty of our surrounding rural views. With the perfect balance of rustic and modern, they knew that Stennack was the ideal blank canvas for the vision they had in mind of a relaxed and informal day.

‘We knew we had found the place to hold our wedding. We were immediately taken by the rural location, and liked that fact that it’s a part of Cornwall that our guests wouldn’t normally see.’

On-site Accommodation

Catie and Scott were appreciative of what our cottages and barn onsite have to offer in terms of adaptability and freedom. Having the space there to spend treasured time with family and guests made all the difference.

‘Having the accommodation onsite was also a huge plus, as having a young daughter, we could put her to bed in the evening and continue to party knowing she could be easily watched over. It was also great to be able to spend time with our guests before the wedding and in the morning after. We also really enjoyed staying in the Shepherd’s Hut on the night of our wedding. It was such a cosy place to have some time together to decompress after what was a very busy day!’

A Festival Feel to the Day

Above all, Catie and Scott’s approach to their wedding was very DIY and hands on. The multiple visits that we encourage and facilitate in the run-up to the big day allowed them to really think about their styling, measurements, and overall relaxed aesthetic.

‘We were always met with a smile by Caroline, who was a really valuable source of knowledge.’

The barn and outside spaces at Stennack Farm create the perfect informal environment for your wedding day, allowing your guests the space to choose where they want to socialise while enjoying the views of the surrounding fields.

‘Stargazey events provided us with some fantastic garden games, which kept our guests entertained all day.’

On such a bright warm day as Catie and Scott’s August wedding, their guests could choose between the shaded outside areas, the lawn areas or the decking around the barn.

‘We wanted our day to be quite informal, with a slight festival feel and with plenty of spaces that our guests could wander to throughout the day to keep themselves entertained. The fact that there was a reception barn was perfect, as you never know what the Cornish weather is going to do!’

Paella in the Sunshine

The couple and their wedding guests enjoyed a delicious three-course meal of antipasti platters, paella and Eton Mess. This was all skilfully concocted, on one of the hottest days of the year, by Big Pan Parties.

‘We were really impressed. They managed the heat of the kitchen without complaint. We found it was too hot for all our guests to be sat inside for the whole three courses, and the caterers were really amenable about bringing dessert around for those who were sitting out in the shade around the venue.’

Bouquets and Buttonholes

Catie and Scott grew a lot of the wedding flowers themselves, and entrusted the bouquets and buttonholes to Perdie’s Flowers.

‘She was brilliant at following the brief I’d given and was really prompt on the day, giving us excellent instructions about how to keep the flowers at their best in the heat.’

Catie wore a beautiful flower crown woven with brightly coloured dried florals, which perfectly complemented the iridescent sequins of her wedding dress, and the sweet pinks, reds and oranges of her bouquet. The look was completed with a pair of red sandals – simply a gorgeous bridal outfit.

‘Alexa Poppe took the photos for us and did a great job even though the dazzling sunlight on the day made it quite tricky!’

Evening Entertainment

Ann’s Pasties were delivered for an evening bite, providing guests the chance to recharge their energy levels for a night full of dancing.

‘Stone Roots were brilliant as our evening entertainment and had all our guests up on the dancefloor – we would definitely recommend them to anyone!’

Stennack Farm was the perfect backdrop for Catie and Scott’s relaxed and informal wedding day, allowing their guests plenty of space to bask in the heat and sunshine, or in the shade when needed.

‘Thanks again for making our day so special. We’ve made memories that we’ll treasure for a lifetime.’
