A Relaxed Wedding Day at Stennack

Emma and Chris chose to marry here at Stennack after looking at lots of different venues before finding us. Their perfect barn wedding venue.

They chose Stennack Farm Weddings for these 5 reasons:

  • They wanted a relaxed day, and most of all they wanted all of their guests to have fun!
  • They knew they could create their perfect day with the space that Stennack offers.
  • They felt like a sit-down three-course dinner was too formal for them, so loved that they could choose our own caterers.
  • They wanted their puppy to be part of their day and loved that Stennack was dog friendly.
  • They knew they wanted some photos on the beach, and Stennack is close to one of the most stunning beaches in Cornwall.

Using the space and having fun at Stennack

Emma and Chris used the lawn area for games, most of which was used to make a giant Guess Who (with photos of them dressed in hats/moustaches/glasses, etc.), hook-a-duck, giant Jenga, and the father of the groom even made some skittles.

“We also had axe throwing with Axeheads Cornwall, who came to the wedding for a few hours, which went down an absolute treat!”

The accommodation

With most of their friends and family living miles away – spread between Plymouth and Buckinghamshire – Emma and Chris needed a venue that offered accommodation and LOVED the cottages at Stennack. Emma also wanted to get ready at their chosen venue, and she fell in love with the upstairs area of the accommodation when they viewed it for the first time.

“I could see me and my mum and closest friends getting ready around the big farm table, it was also really fun peeking out of the windows and watching our guests arrive!”

An informal wedding feast

A sit-down three-course meal was too formal for this couple, and they loved that they could choose their own caterer. Their feast was a hog roast from Kerra’s Catering.

“It was absolutely phenomenal, the best hog roast you will ever eat! Followed by pizzas in the evening, which again were incredible! I would 100% recommend her and her team, she was so lovely from the minute we sent the initial enquiry, went above and beyond to help ensure the smooth running of the day, and her staff were so friendly and professional.”

Stennack is dog friendly!

Their puppy had to be part of their day and loved that he could be at Stennack

“We both agree that the best money we spent on our wedding day was hiring a wedding day dog nanny to look after Lola; she completely took the stress away from us or any of the guests in having to look after her, kept her happy, fed, watered and made sure I wasn’t having to pick up any ‘presents’ in my wedding dress!

Wedding Photos on the Beach

“We knew we wanted some photos on the beach; Cornwall is very much part of our love story. Chris and I met through his sister when I was living in near Leicester, and he was living in Plymouth. We had a long-distance relationship for a while, and every other weekend when I went to visit him in Plymouth, we came down to Cornwall in his camper van.

We spent our weekends on the beach in Cornwall, which is why we decided to move down here together; Chris also proposed on the beach, so we felt it was really important to include the beach in our wedding day. We went to Godrevy after our ceremony and had some photos taken; Lola was there too. It was my absolute favourite part of the day; we really savoured the time alone, walking hand-in-hand along the beach.”

DIY Decor

Chris and Emma are very creative and love making things, so most of the decor was hand-made! Chris made the wedding arch that they stood under during the ceremony, and Emma did all the floral arrangements. They made it all from signage to concrete pots with potted succulents to confetti and cake stands!

A Dried Flower Bouquet with Dried Poppy Heads

“I chose a dried flower bouquet from Cornish Moor Flowers. It included pampas, eucalyptus, white roses and also dried poppy heads which remind me of my grandma. This meant a lot to me as it felt as though she was with me on my wedding day, having passed away a few years ago.”

A Princess for the Day

“I bought my dress from a shop near to my parents in Woburn Sands, called The Ivory Wardrobe. It was my dream dress and I felt like a princess!!”

The Groom

Chris picked his own outfit for the wedding. They went to Moss Bros, and he picked some chinos, a waistcoat and a flat cap.

“He has never been comfortable in a suit, and as part of our laid-back plans, we wanted him to be comfortable; I thought he looked so handsome! He also bought all the men in the bridal party a pocketwatch to go with the waistcoat.”

Entertainment

“We had Something Borrowed as our wedding band; they were amazing and kept all of our guests dancing all night long! Chris’s favourite part of our day was towards the end of the night. Chris and I were dancing in the middle of a circle of our closest friends and family to one of his favourite Oasis songs.”

Jason Howard Photography

“Our photographer was amazing, Jason photographed my friend’s wedding years ago and I knew I wanted him to photograph our wedding. Chris HATES having his photo taken but Jason’s laid-back and friendly approach made us both feel entirely comfortable and we had so much fun with him, he ended up feeling more like a guest! The photos speak for themselves, they are just so beautiful!”
